Unforgettable Ceremony
Thank You’s & In-Memory Of
Before the ceremony starts, I begin by expressing a heartfelt thank you to your guests for making the journey and being here to share this special day. If you’d prefer, I can also request that guests refrain from using cell phones during the ceremony. Additionally, I take a moment to honor and acknowledge loved ones who couldn't be here, whether it's due to distance or the passing of grandparents, friends, or family members.
***
Moment of Gratitude
I like to call this our “grounding moment.” I invite everyone to close their eyes and take a deep breath, allowing themselves to feel centered and fully present. For about 10 seconds, I speak about the importance of being mindful of our surroundings and embracing the gratitude we feel for being together on this special day.
***
Lei Exchange Ceremony
The lei exchange is a symbol of love, affection, and mutual respect for one another. I explain the meaning behind the lei exchange and guide you both in draping your partners lei over their head and shoulders while gently kissing each side of their cheek.
**
Ring Exchange
I have you stack your left hands together, palms up. Then I place your wedding bands in the middle. I wish for you kindness, harmony and good fortune in your marriage. Then I guide you through the rest of the ring exchange and have you make a promise to one another.
*
Premium Ring Exchange
Similar to the simple ring exchange, I have you stack your left hands, palms up. I place your rings in a hand-carved wooden bowl and speak to its symbolism. Using a vase of ocean water, I explain its meaning as I pour it over the rings, letting the water trickle to the ground. Next, I dip a ti leaf into the water, symbolizing blessings, and pour it over your rings, wishing you kindness, harmony, and good fortune. Finally, I guide you through the rest of the ring exchange and your heartfelt promises to one another.
**
Custom Written Portion (Your Story)
I email you several questions regarding your relationship. I ask you about your first date, the qualities you loved most about each other when you first met, what you love most about each other now, and your greatest adventure together. Then we have a scheduled ZOOM call where you both take turns answering the questions while I write notes. From your answers, I write your custom ceremony. *If you’re choosing not to do personal vows , I highly recommend this option.
*
Hand Binding Ceremony
The hand-binding ceremony symbolizes the union of your two lives. Using a rope I’ve woven from native Hawaiian ti-leaf and raffia grass, I gently tie your left hands together with three knots. Each knot represents your love for your partner, their love for you, and the shared love of those witnessing your marriage. While your hands are bound, you’ll exchange your Traditional Vows with my guidance. To release the bind, you simply slide your hands out, leaving the knots intact. The rope is yours to keep as a meaningful keepsake.

Marriage Keepsake
After we all sign the marriage license, I gift you a Marriage Keepsake. This is a thick silver foil paper certificate with your names, signatures, the date, and location. Since I take the signed marriage license copy with me, you keep this for souvenir purposes.
